Therapist fine for teeth whitening

MELBOURNE A judge ruled that the teeth whitening procedure to be effective by dentists registered as a beautician with a fine of $ 2000 for the implementation of treatment. The trial of the beautician, held in March, was the first time the legality of tooth whitening by non-registered practitioner has been tested in Australia. The therapist was sentenced and not at court yesterday fined the Heidelberg Magistrates for the practice of dentistry while enrolled as a dental provider. Magistrate Jill Crowe says teeth whitening is an "invasive and irreversible procedure and should be performed by dental care providers registered. The Dental Practice Board of Victoria has brought charges against the beautician after a customer complained after a teeth whitening procedures in August 2007. The customer has suffered severe mottling and mottled teeth, gums, ulcers and burns, said the executive committee. A spokesman for the council, said the decision to create a precedent and would ensure that teeth whitening has been achieved only by people with dental education.
